Purging is an integral part of the plastics processing procedure. A purge typically takes place when a manufacturer needs to modify the color or material of the product. In order to get the old resin out of the machine, the manufacturer will generally either use some sort of detergent or the resin that is to be used for the next project.
Using new resin to purge old resin is a process that often results in an unnecessary amount of waste; negatively impacting both the environment and the bottom line of the manufacturer.
