The Mixer/Measuring Head is a miniature internal laboratory mixer (electrically or liquid heated) specially designed for attachment to a C.W. Brabender® drive unit. The Mixer uses non-intermeshing, counter-rotating mixing blades to homogenize a single or multi component material blend on a laboratory scale volume. Ultimately, it increases the processing flexibility of a laboratory with diverse materials testing requirements.
Mixer/Measuring Heads are commonplace in materials research, product development, and quality control environments.
Their usage has been widely accepted as a standard for measuring, evaluating and characterizing material flow properties in a repeatable and reproducible manner. The Mixer acts as a Measuring Head, or as a sample torque measurement device, when connnected to a Plasti-Corder® torque rheometer. Process torque and material temperature data obtained during mixing are used to generate a specific compound processability fingerprint using specialized Brabender® WINMIX Windows® Mixing Software. When used with a Prep-Center® drive, the Mixer acts strictly as a batch mixer from which melt temperature and samples can be obtained.
