Kuredux® PGA is a high-strength biodegradable polyester resin offering excellent gas barrier to carbon dioxide and oxygen, with controllable hydrolysis. In multi-layer PET bottles for carbonated soft drinks and beer it offers gas barrier 100 times greater than PET, reducing the amount of PET by more than 20 percent. It also enhances the gas and moisture barrier of bio-based polymers like PLA. Kuredux® PGA shows similar biodegradation to cellulose, meeting ASTM D6400 and ISO 14855 standards, and is compatible with industrial PET recycling processes. In addition to offering outstanding gas barrier, Kuredux® PGA provides a controlled rate of degradation, high abrasion resistance, excellent chemical resistance, and high strength and tenacity. This unique combination of properties has resulted in application development programs in medical (suture) applications, enhanced oil recovery and natural gas exploration, as well as in the high-tech electronics market and other industrial programs.
