Durethan®

Durethan® is the trade name for LANXESS engineering thermoplastics based on polyamide 6 and polyamide 66. Polyamides are partially crystalline thermoplastics which offer an ideal combination of properties, especially for technical applications. In addition to being easy to process, polyamides combine high mechanical strength and stiffness with good dielectric properties, high resistance to both heat and chemical attack and good friction and wear properties. Durethan A is a polyamide 66 nylon, and is used in a variety of markets and applications, including automotive, furniture, power tool housings, and lawn and garden equipment. Because of its resistance to glycol, Durethan A nylon is used for automotive cooling circuits. Durethan B is a polyamide 6 nylon, used in a variety of markets and applications, including automotive, furniture, power tool housings, lawn and garden equipment, and packaging film for medical, food and industrial goods. Durethan T transparent polyamide is a partially aromatic polyamide that is used in applications requiring resistance to hydrocarbons, lipids and disinfectants as well as medical applications requiring biocompatibility (FDA-modified ISO-10993-1).
