Product Overview
Ebonex Bone Ash
Ebonex bone ash is obtained by calcinating degelatinized bone up to a temperature of approximately 1100°C. Afterwards, the bone ash is cooled and milled (minimum of 95% through a 325 mesh size sieve).
Initially, Ebonex bone ash has been developed as a basic element in the porcelain industry, especially for the manufacturing of bone china, but due to its outstanding characteristics, it soon turned out to be most suitable for casting of refined copper, copper alloy and aluminum.
The expansion of bone ash in the aluminum industry is of such nature, that it forms a substantial part of Direct Chill casting of ingots and billets. Bone ash has a direct influence in improving the casting quality, because of the following intrinsical benefits:
- Has excellent non-wetting properties
- Is chemically inert and free of organic matters
- Has very high heat transfer resistance
- Increases the life expectancy of refractory and equipment
