Metton LMR is a relatively new polymer class with similar performance properties to engineering thermoplastics. The major benefit is Metton LMR starts as a liquid, which generates dramatically lower mold cavity pressure than injection molding. The cavity pressure of 15 to 30 psig allows parts up to 120 ft2 outer surface area with parts weighing several hundred pounds and production in low pressure rated molds. Similar to injection molding, ribs and bosses can be molded-in. Part thicknesses up to 12 inches thick can be varied and metal inserts are an option. Adhesion to paint and structural adhesives is excellent. Metton LMR molded parts contain no fiberglass and they exhibit superior toughness and durability.
