Innovative Plastic Solutions opened for business in 1971 as Seward Tool Company specializing in building custom injection molds and tooling utilizing a 6,000 square foot space. In 1988, the company became Harbor City Plastics, reflecting its ability to offer customers a full range of custom injection molding and tool building services. Improvements also warranted moving to a 24,000 square foot facility. Now as Innovative Plastic Solutions, expanding into a 50,000 square foot facility which increased efficiency in production and secondary work, we continue to offer custom injection molding services and tool building services but also have improved our color matching capabilities. We use a state-of-the art Gretag-Macbeth Color-Eye spectrophotometer and NetProfiler calibration software to analyze the colors of parts that must be matched. During the coloring process Innovative Plastic Solutions starts with high quality pre-colored resins and color concentrate additives and blends them using a McGuire Color Mixing Unit. This unit is capable of mixing colors to 0.1 percent. Some other improved processes include insert molding and multishot molding. Some industries we now service include building & construction, appliances, defense, consumer products, recreational/sporting goods, and industrial. We also provide secondary services such as part design, CAD/CAM/CAE, prototyping, SPC/SQC, toolmaking, decorating, packaging, welding, assembly, and logistical services.
